Grey horse went off 7-1 or so, and shouldn't of(that was one of the best overlays of the Hollywood meet.) This horse could fire. He has faced better, right? I even think the horse from France may have run against(and beaten) better. This Lady training L.U. Prey is a 27% trainer. The reasons you gave for not liking the horse are legit, but he has faced tougher in those races. I agree KILDERRY has looked like a decent horse with a kick. I still think his kick could be more effective going shorter. This is a step up for him, too. It's a hard race to pick the winner. I will probably take the 2 Euros, and maybe Kilderry. I will probably get beat by the horses who have come 2nd and 3rd in graded races in this country, but I don't know which one(they look pretty similar....the four inside horses.)

Let us Prey is AE. I just hope Kilderry doesnt hang 5 wide cause he is drawn post 10 going a mile. I will be a fool to single in multi race wagers but with Bejarano on him and Mitchell's claiming to stakes angle I have to key him.

I see nothing interesting in the 2nd division, but think the cluster of low priced faves in the 1st division are all lesser class 3 yo's, and will hope for a lone speed and better rating ability by Jungle Wave at 15-1

FYI...Only horses to have worked at DMR last 10 days..(track is quirky,..to be kind...right?)

Race 6

pp6 Cali Blaze 13Jul 4f 47.04 2/14
pp8 Col Moldes 14Jul 4f 53.00 41/41

Race 8

pp10 Cannonball (it's the Ramsey's..WesWard) 14Jul 3f 39.80 15/15
pp11 Wild n Ready 11Jul 4f 48.2 1/3

..just (junk) food for thought maybe ?

SCUDSBROTHER 07-16-2008 12:39 AM

LET US PREY,SAVVY N SMOOTH,FUNNY ME...are early scratches. N PAD early scratch from the 8th race.

swedejxn 07-16-2008 06:59 AM

The 8th is a toss-up... But love the work pattern and last race for Cannonball ... could be up to last years form and has faced the best 3 YO Turf competition... Post Hurts...

I think Liberian Freighter will have too much competition on the front end... speed won't hold up...

If Dixie Chatter takes to the turf Migs can work a good trip from the 3 hole and steal it entering the stretch...

So Chatter and Cannonball on top.... anyone else could complete super except maybe Cee Bargara... like Keppel, Afleet Ruler, and Tango as my 2nd tier...

SCUDSBROTHER 07-16-2008 06:10 PM

FRANK LYONS owns part of that C Mondes horse.

eajinabi 07-16-2008 08:50 PM

Kildery Wins!!!!

Mr Keppel came second! Cashed on both!!

Mr. Keppel is a FOR SURE horse to watch

swedejxn 07-16-2008 08:51 PM

Chatter the winner $15 and supers paid 1591 and 1757.. love it when a dead heat completes the ticket..... wish I could have played freighter in the 3 spot... and cashed both ways... hope everyone did well today

I also noticed Sadler 4 winners from 5 starts when shipping horses from No. Cal to Del Mar.
His odds will be determined on how sky cape does in the first division.

Wow,if this isn't a case where they are tempted to switch jocks, then what is? I'm not saying he won't run 2nd the same way(again,) just saying you know Sadler would want to try Gomez. Funny, cuz the only reason this jock gets the mount (in the first place) is he is married to the owner's daughter....LOL..BIDNEZ IS BIDNEZ...I bet you see a jock change.

Willie Shoemaker being on that horse wouldn't have made a difference. Isaias Enriquez gave him a perfect ride and that's coming from someone who bet on him. He never went wide, he waited for an opening turning for home, got it but was just outmoved by a classy horse. What should he have done, waited on the inside like Gomez, who only got a seam when it was too late?

It's easy to pile on jockeys but more often than not it's unfair and this, in my opinion, is one of those cases.

It's a results business. He had his chance, and twice came 2nd. They will switch. I am not saying he did anything wrong technically. He isn't getting to the wire 1st with the horse. That's not the result they want. Given a chance to get a top 2 jock, they will do it. They thought Black Mamba was getting good rides, too. They tried a top 2 jock, and got their result. Some people are better than others. To be honest, the horse would probably romp going shorter. They had him running 6 and 7f in Europe.

Actually Scuds, Enriquez rode him real nice just could not catch the winner. On the gallop out both dixie chatter and Mr . Keppel were troting even. I hope enriquez sticks on this horse as opposed to Gomez cause it will make be a huge differemce in odds next time out.

At least Kilderry wins for me but at a discounted 5-1 odds. He will be first/second choice next out in the next logical race (La Jolla handicap) BUT i believe a mile is his limit.

Gomez or Bejarano can get that horse up. We aren't talking 2-3 lengths here. You make up this margin, and you get paid double. Got to switch. Your not gunna do worse, and (like I said) will probably get up. This is when you must upgrade(short margin losses.) They will change, or they won't get in the circle. Be sentimental, nice, etc., or get smart.

Listening to Sadler's interview in the paddock gave me the notion he wants to bring Mr. Keppel into the big leauge. If his cards are played right, we might see im in the Oak tree mile and if he does well there then Breeders Cup.

I am pretty sure if this horse had gotten in he would have won the oceanside, that was massive acceleration tonight.

Handing us yet another winner, and possible monster. Not sure what he beat, but he only ran for about a sixteenth of a mile. Del Mar Derby next according to Walsh

Looked good winning. Smith had him corked real good behind horses and just swifted by them all. That being said, European horses are suspect to bounce second start in USA so a sure thing next out may not be in my mind. Depends on the field

Update, Del Mar barn notes.....

Mr Keppel, runner-up to Dixie Chatter in the second division of the Oceanside Stakes on Wednesday, is headed to Tommy Town Farm where he’ll be treated and possibly rehabbe-d for an injury to the tendon in his left foreleg suffered during the race …
