My ? is do we think that Curlin can go over the lawn? i know he is fast and tought as nails but i wonder if he has that acceleration that it takes to win the big races on the turf esp in an event like this. i seem to remember thinking that his lack of instant burst is what caust him in the Belmont as Rags quickened a lot faster then he did. Now he did get right there with her but i would have to see a grass race of his before shelling out what 3k? to go to Paris. Man would it not be fun to go over there and if he were to dominate Paris may never be the same b/c i would friggin go wild. I've been on here before not exactly with the curlin lovefest but the fact that they brought him back to run at 4 shows me something. In the article today the writer wrote that they are losing 15 million dollars this year by not having him at stud. Would love to see it happen. There going workout on the grass here at CD. Man i'd love to see that.

the belmont was last year... this horse has moved forward tons since then...
IMO....if he goes, hes going to win, and would have a legit shot... a lot of ppl tonight think he would have no shot

A work or even a race over the turf in the US wont be anything like the course he will run over in france. i know they have to try to prepare him the best they can but until he runs over there it will be a question mark. The fact that he is a big, heavy horse will not work in his favor when running on a water logged course.

So true... racing over there is a whole different ballgame. Usually a heavy soft going and deep. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the next few months in the Curlin camp.

Was it during the early 90's? Reason I ask is I know someone that may have galloped horses for you back then. A French guy named "Frenchy" (go figure..) Ring a bell?

he would be embarrassed if they take him over there. with his size running on that course with the elevation changes, giving away experience against the best in Europe? please.

and all this talk of running in the Arc is because they don't want to run on the synthetic at SA?

I don't think he would do very well, in europe you will have the French and Coolmore horses prepping all year to hopefully peak in the Arc, I don't think you can suddenly change course and decide off one grass race to compete in arguably the most prestigious turf race in the world. I'd love to see it happen but Curlin would be up against it .

brockguy 06-16-2008 06:23 PM

Curlin will probably need to be just about performing to his dirt ratings to be winning the Arc and that is an extremely tough ask..
