Congrats to Zito and the connections.

I've been watching racing since my sister and I beat each other up over Easy Goer and Sunday Silence. It feels strange to me to feel glad that Big Brown lost but in this day and age, I was happier watching Evening Attire finish second yesterday.

It's easier to wire a field in a 12f race than in a 6f race.

You said it.:D

I'm an agnostic, but today's events might just turn me into a believer.

It was the best possible result--the horse is fine, but the piece of crap on two legs is utterly humiliated. What more could we have hoped for?

Note to Rick: Run race THEN run mouth next time.

dylbert 06-07-2008 06:42 PM

Big Brown is latest footnote in thoroughbred racing history. Let's hope that some late bloomers arrive from this year's 3 year old crop. Da' Tara's sire, Tiznow, was late bloomer winning two Grade 1 races, Super Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic, in 2000. Tiznow repeated as BC Classic winner in 2001.

Danzig 06-07-2008 06:44 PM

yeah, i had to look up datara, as i had no idea as to pedigree. nice to see tiznow (wins one for america) get a classic winner.

Someone called ATR today that liked Da'Tara

I cant wait to hear what Dutrow has to say. Maybe Iavarone should go back to being a high profile investment banker.

What a great day !!!!

outofthebox 06-07-2008 06:54 PM

Yea, a great day for racing. Today 125k people jam the stands to see a rare racing feat..And tomorrow Belmont will be lucky to have 5k in attendance. Yea, great day for racing...

ArlJim78 06-07-2008 06:56 PM

i think it is a great day for racing. it would have been a sham for that horse to be a triple crown winners.

wac 06-07-2008 06:56 PM

Man i cannot begin to say how happy i am right now!!!! i have been on here many times talking about how much i dislike the owners and trainer of this horse and feel so good right now. The holy grail is protected for one more year. And what aobut 3 chimneys??? man they have got a huge s^it sanwich and now they have a horse with a sprinter pedigree that wont run again i read the interview in the drf and now i can only imagine what the owner of that farm has to say. you know they are creamed today. Man i love the karma gods. So sweet

outofthebox 06-07-2008 06:58 PM

You dont get it. We dont have to compare the triple crown winners. We need fans to witness it. Were a dieing spectator sport..

Unfortunately to do that he'd have to have been one to begin with. Well I assume by "high profile" he means good and not in trouble for being naughty--that one he messed with about 15 yrs ago. I gotta give him credit, he's spun that image pretty well. It's like someone pumping his resume full of things like "Reorganization and Marketing Specialist" and they're really the stock boy at K-Mart that moves products forward on the shelf so it'll look nice and brings out the stacks of toilet paper.

I feel awful for being so giddy but I just didn't like IEAH in particular. Dutrow bugged me but I figured at least the other trainers were like 'he's a super horseman' which sort of made it seem like at least they respected his technique if not his slip ups. I'm so so soooo excited for Tiznow, Nick, and Robert LaPenta. Yay Da' Tara. Not my pick but it's karma's pick. Colonel John missed the Derby but Tiznow got his mojo back in the Belmont. You folks know what this could mean? If karma truly has its way, we might have a horse in the Derby next year with particular significance (assuming all goes well which is a monumental assumption) out of 30,000+ foals one of the 20 slots might be filled by Nicanor. You never know. A race period would be big, but in the next year or two we'll have two shots at it with full brothers of Barbaro.

This can be a very humbling game, a little bit of humility goes a very long way.

I tend to think that would be the case regardless
