Scavs, what I want to know is what are the odds of Out of Control getting scratched? That horse will be way overbet just because of Frankel/Gomez. His ability doesn't match up with these and his style of running won't match Keeneland's turf course.

He should be 20/1, but I'm guessing he gets bet down to 6/1 or 7/1 if Frankel actually runs him.

because people love Frankel and the last was somewhat impressive....

Your the Euro corespondent, she would toss 1000 words?

brockguy 04-08-2008 02:12 PM

1000 Words doesnt scream G1 horse to me, he never has, always came up short against a quality field.. he was a good 2year old but didnt really progress last year, in fact, his last few races in England were shocking..

Frankel does seem to be able to work the oracle on these types though..

cakes44 04-08-2008 02:14 PM

I was just perusing the nominations for this race and noticed Olympic Chief. How/why in the world is he not in this race?

The Indomitable DrugS 04-08-2008 02:18 PM

How has he runs since debuting in last years Arkansas Derby?

I think the Makers Mark would have been a shrewd spot for him to make his turf debut.

i agree, he has taken advantage of some short semi questionable fields out west....

cakes44 04-08-2008 02:23 PM

That's what I thought too, drugs. The Chief ran in two MSWs since his debut, and was actually beaten less than a pole in his last. And...as we all know, Davidson knows how to get them to fire huge off the layoff.

I'll be interested on Ruff and Ready's actual odds, might be right there on the lead

GPK 04-08-2008 08:02 PM

Zann at 50-1?? You are more nuts than I thought. 2nd time for KMac and surely didn't have the easiest of trips last out at Gulf. He was 5-1 that day.

About as good a field for this category you would see outside of the BC Mile.

Wow! What a fine group, great race on tap!

wac 04-08-2008 09:23 PM

I hate to say it but the weather looks like its gonna awful all weekend here in the Bluegrass state. I wish it wasn't b/c this is a really good field and would love to be able to catch war monger back after that debacle in Calif. Just have to wait and see how things look on Friday.

Alan07 04-08-2008 09:35 PM

If it is off the turf, who would scratch?

This is without a doubt the worst ML in history. Scav, u r the man.:D

My top 3 picks were the fav and two 50-1 shots. "back up the truck time".

I was pretty close on most of them. But yeah, way off on others. 10/1 on Ruff and Ready is ridiculous. He is facing multiple graded stakes horses, I would play the horse at 45/1 or better.

NEVER SAID I WAS A GENIUS at ML making. I'll add this to the multiple page document of things I am not a genius at :)

As for your sig, The Bid is the king of the hedge. trust me.

Scav 04-10-2008 11:24 AM

I take back what I said about Ruff and Ready. Besides Kip Deville, he is the fastest damn horse in the race.

I do think Kip Deville is unplayable here. I would much rather play him in his next start then this one.

As much as I don't want to say this, Einstein is value here, along with Ruff and Ready and Shakis.

hockey2315 04-10-2008 11:42 AM

From 50-1 to one of your top picks, Scavie? I like Ruff and Ready too.

Yeah, I'm a moron. Ran a real good number last time, but he hasn't faced much. Don't really have a top pick in the race, very contentious. If I had to play one horse, I would be playing Einstein to Win and boxing him with like four other horses in the exacta.

Hickory Hill Hoff 04-11-2008 07:16 AM

All I can say is.....WOW! what a race, as good as it gets.
