Looks like this race is coming off the turf. Everything around here is just one big messy puddle. I was over at the track earlier this morning and word is that that they don't want to risk tearing up the turf course for one race when they have the rest of the meet to think about. Tomorrow and Sunday is looking like 60's and sun.

I'm sort of interested in Free Fighter, so long as the turf isn't too wet. Keeneland's turf course is notoriously unkind to front-runners.

Free Fighter caught my eye a bit too as an include.. Who is this horse anayway? That ALW win at Fair Grounds came out of left field...

Mott actually said on ATR last night that he'd scratch both Riley and Prussian if it had STAYED on the lawn...

The Polytrack is fast; the turf is soft
The Gallop Master will be used today after training and again after race 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9.

Keeneland's grounds received more than 4 inches of rain since yesterday afternoon, making the turf course soft.

herkhorse 04-04-2008 08:10 AM

pardon my ignorance, but what is a Gallop Master?

The polytrack version of a harrowing device.

It's definitely a horse to watch. Block's the best turf trainer at Arlington and anything owned by his family and trained by him is always viable anywhere on turf.... especially AP or KEE. One from that combo you may remember is Fort Prado, another is Vacare that won the QEII at Kee (before purchased from Block and transferred to Clement).

with the race off the turf , Riley Tucker has new life. He rebounded fairly well with the class drop last time. His synthetic race at Arlington was what got Mott excited in the first place. Arlington is a pretty similar track although a bit less tiring.

watch the two 9 furlong races. Prussian could be the toss of the day if it looks really tiring.

i'm still not over the Count Fleet but Barrier reef will have every chance to like the surface if you like his talent..

pretty wide open, maybe if u do toss Prussian you gamble and include a lot?

Barrier Reef/All/Riley Tucker
Barrier Reef/Riley Tucker/All for me

I'm very much against Prussian here. Between speed never holding on the Keeneland poly and being overrated as a 2YO anyways, I would be surprised if he even hit the board.

Barrier Reef, now that the race has been switched over, is the right play at 3/1 or higher. Riley Tucker also merits consideration at 6/1 or better.

Love the play. Will punch the same ticket, plus a Riley/Barrier/All ticket

Even though Vacare wasn't a Team Block horse, I couldn't agree more. During the summer, anything Block runs on turf, period, tends to be dangerous.

Amazing Results may be the next one to watch this summer after a crafty stakes win at Fairgrounds last time out over Boss Laffite, who looks a major player in the Translyvania at Keeneland.
