Still... you gotta love these douchebag rulers of Dubai focusing on horse racing and not the slave labor in their own country. Before too long it'll be The United States of America presented by Godolphin.

But here is what I dont get.

Yum's pays for this name recognition
right. Sponsors are not entirely stupid.

So... How the heck does this make Yum's
money? Am I and the rest of the world
subconsciously driven to seek chicken?
We just get pounded with the name and
we become chicken obsessed zombies?
I dont get it.

For the most part, the sponsor naming doesn't really bother me. I understand why it's being done. They can call their races whatever they want. But, IMO, there is a problem when the media is told/forced to use the name exactly the way the dictated to them.
Example: The NHL held it's Winter Classic presented by Amp'd in Buffalo this past winter. They insisted it be called the "Winter Classic presented by Amp's." Know what most of the media outlets called it?? The Ice Bowl. Better ring to it, eh? The NHL didn't like it, but you know what, there wasn't much they could do about it. I suppose the relationship between the media and horse racing industry is a little different than other sports.. but, ideally, that still shouldn't influence what and how things are written/reported.

well nascar is like that all you hear all the time is sunoco fuels goodyear and the sponsers of the cars by everybody from media to drivers owners and whoever.

Since "Yum!" is not the name of the stores we all know (KFC, Long John Silver's etc) I am not sure what good is served, honestly. I had no idea the name of the parent company of those stores before the Derby deal. I DO however agree that if my company "Linny's Wingnuts" decides to sponsor a race, I want it to be called the "Linny's Wingnuts Fourstardave Handicap" everytime it is mentioned.

Good point, Linny. Since Yum! isn't the name of any of the franchises, my bet is that they are trying to pump up value of the corporation's stock.

Not that I care about these things, but that is a horrible logo. I could whip that up in the GIMP in about 10 minutes and I have no artistic ability at all.

i believe the logo depicts Street Sense winning the Jim Dandy. if you look at www.nyra.com scroll down to 2007 photos you'll see one that looks just like the logo...sort of
