Which clearly played right into Green Bay's hands this past year, right? The Bears have yet to make themselves substantially worse than they were last year (with the exception of losing Berrian), and the Pack don't seem to have made themselves substantially better, so I don't follow your logic....

Which has changed the dynamic, how? The Bears haven't change a hell of a lot from last year, and I'm still not seeing a knight in shining armor for the Pack, given that they've now lost their biggest asset, that is going to make some cataclysmic shift in talent levels.

Brian...The point isn't the Bears haven't made themselves substantially worse, it's that they were already terrible and have done nothing to address an inept offense. Congrats on re-signing Orton and Rex....too bad they will get killed standing behind the geriatric O-Line you have. You really have NO Wide Receivers, little or no running game and a defense that will lose Mike Brown by Week 2 and possibly Urlacher by the bye.

The Packers are returning the top WRs in football top to bottom, a dynamic runner, a O-Line that is young and protects very well and a D Line that is deep and good. The secondary needs help, but still will be better than average. Losing Fave can't help, but it's still the system that gets the receivers open and makes Grant a Top 5 running back next year.

When the Pack stinks, I'll say it, but objectively there is no way I'll ever believe the Bears will have a better year than GB next year.

I never said they would, however they also didn't this year and managed to hand the Pack two losses, including one of the more humiliating ones in the rivalry's recent history.

I'm not insinuating that the Bears will outperform the Packers from an overall record standpoint, but I'm having a hard time seeing how the dynamic pending for their two games against each other this season has somehow dramatically shifted to the Pack's favor when the Bears have won 5 of the last 6 when Favre was playing, and the Bears had essentially the same inept offense and the same defensive problems they will have this coming year.

Favre's retirement will change this in such a positive way that it makes the Packers mortal locks over the Bears this year, how?

The Bears are going to suck this year, just like they did last year -- but the Packers sure haven't figured out how to beat them in the past three or four years as it is. It doesn't seem unrealistic to think that Favre leaving knocks them down a notch, and knocking them down a notch from already being incapable of beating the Bears bodes well for the Bears in what will be two of the only games that matter for anything this year for Chicago fans.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Michael Strahan of the New York Giants broke the NFL record for sacks in a season, and only Brett Favre will ever know if the record-setter was a gift.


Strahan got sack No. 22½ with 2:42 left in the fourth quarter Sunday, falling on Favre after the Green Bay Packers' quarterback rolled out and went down at the feet of the defensive end. The sack broke the 17-year-old record of 22 set by Mark Gastineau in 1984.


The play looked questionable because the Packers were leading 34-25 and Favre didn't have a blocker in front of him on the rollout.


Michael Strahan got the record with a fourth-quarter "sack" of Brett Favre.


Favre, who joked during the week that he might "work out a little side deal" with Strahan to allow him to get the record, called a run in the huddle, teammates said. The quarterback insisted he changed the play to a naked bootleg to catch the Giants off guard, something he's done five or six times this season.


"No, I didn't," Favre said when asked if he allowed Strahan to sack him. "That was a keep pass. I tried to get the edge but he got through."

Brett Favre has been such a class act, on and off the field. Yeah, he was reckless with the ball at times, he threw alot of balls he shouldn't have. BUT, he was a fierce competitor, he was a winner, multiple MVP awards, and won a Superbowl ring. What I will always appreciate and remember about Favre is how much he LOVED playing the game. With a smile on his face, and a spark in his eyes, he played the game the way I wish alot more of these overpaid bums would, because he took joy in playing it! I'm not a Packers fan, but I was a Brett Favre fan, and he will be missed on Sunday's when I'm flipping through games, and don't see #4 on that field! Best wishes to him! One of the best of all time!

a great quarterback. i thought he might stay another year. after the one he just had, he showed he was still a force to be reckoned with.
hope he enjoys his retirement. i think it had to do with what cal ripken jr was saying the other day. you still want to play, you're just tired of all the working out, the offseason stuff you have to do to stay in the shape to play.

Favre may still come back. He just likes the attention too much
