I watched it and enjoyed it. Whether I am a fan of the horse or not, I always enjoy when the best horses in the game race, especially one who may in fact be very special.

Who knows whether or not the horse got anything out of it, but I would think the connections got out of it, or close to it, what they were lookin for. Whatever it was, it was certainly better than being in the barn. A race over the track, getting acclimated, going under the lights, and so on. Certainly didn't hurt.

I liked your first post better.

Glad he came home safe.

Remember kids, Latency in the DWC!

I enjoy when the best horses race period. not because of the wagering opportunity, which this was certainly not, just because I like to see a really good horse prove it over and over.

Incredibly, Curlin made his racing debut barely one year ago! 2/3/2007.

Didn't get to see the race, but I'm a bit confused about the payouts in a six horse race.

the_fat_man 02-28-2008 12:52 PM

What an INSPIRATIONAL ride by Robby A.

I can see it now: young jockeys everywhere will begin to emulate Robby. No longer will we be subjected to the WRESTLING MATCHES each race between the jock and the horse. (I realize this is a MACHO thing and we must restrain those beasts.)

Imagine, actually loose reigning horses. Allowing them to run on their own. To actually RELAX during a race. To let them finish on their own without beating them to death and causing them to duck and swerve in and out.

I can dream, can't I?

I needed to be enrolled in Bobby Fisher's advanced class.

Here's a guess.....and probably a wrong one....but maybe they mistakenly listed what those horses would have paid to win.

As someone who pushes between $100-$100,000,000 through the windows each year, I found this race a cinch for the show pool.

I just called NYC OTB to confirm those prices and they are right. There was no show betting and there was a dead heat for second. Now maybe else can offer an explination, because I don't understand either

here is the link to the otb prices.

There was not a dead heat for second. There was a brain dead person on the other end of your phone however.

.......that is a good thing....... that works for monsters, maybe not so well with the remaing 99.9999999 % of the horses
in training. no, i wish they didnt whip horses. it really is cruel.

Albarado really was just along for the ride the entire time.

He probably could have done the same thing on him in any of the "big" races for older horses going on in the U.S. this weekend and would have won just as easily.

The Bid 02-28-2008 01:26 PM

Miraja, Im not so sure that effort gets it done against the best horses over here, but glad to see the big horse get one under his belt. Hopefully next time he runs its showtime.

I hate how Robby rides, he can really put one to sleep and get them in trouble if others get the jump.

I'm not really sure who the "best horses over here" are at this point, but I think it is safe to say that he could have coasted to a pretty easy victory in a race like the Gulfstream Park Handicap.

I just can't think of any real competition for him right now here or there.

He could fly back over tonight and still win that race.

The Bid 02-28-2008 01:37 PM

I thought he looked good, but looked like he certainly was needing one on the gallop out. I just didnt expect him to need any encouragement today putting away up and downers, maybe I expected too much
