what happened to concession speechs? Obama is giving a speech that rivals any convention acceptance speech.

its all over but the counting, McCain will be the next pres.

Danzig 01-08-2008 10:06 PM

well, yeah, it is....but foreign policy goes hand in hand with it.

really tho, domestic issues seem to be handled more by congress, but the president has always been acknowledged as the pace setter on our foreign affairs. and that goes hand in hand with a HUGE, global economy. i think the economy pretty much is too huge for the pres to fix or screw up, altho they all always tend to grab the praise when it goes well!

take the housing market. when the banks were giving loans to all who asked, they had to know it would correct itself. it was a balloon waiting to burst. then when it goes tits up, the banks want the govt to 'do something'. you didn't want the govt to do something when you were careless, but now when you have to pay the piper, it's a different story....

and i digress...

i just think people get caught up too much in details, in the mundane, when it comes to electing a president. that's where your local and state reps come into play, the every day business of governing your community and the state.
the presidency is different. it's not like people call the ceo when their paycheck has a mistake...

So I guess no one agrees with me that the turkey neck hurts Richardson? Don't give your fellow Americans that much credit. It matters to them.

A daring forecast.

I think its totally up for grabs
and all of this is happening way
too early anyway. Some of these people
are supposed to be running the
country, not their mouths.

Ron Paul has got his tin foil hat on.
So thats about 9% of New Hampshire
Republicans who are retarded. Less than the Houston,
Texas area, but still significant.

And if McCain does win, will somebody
please take the butter knife away from
the prospective First Lady's makeup supply.
She is taping and floating
her face. This is a woman who shops at
Home Depot for her beauty items.
Takin odds her milk glands are fake also.

OK so she may HAVE been hot. But dammit
we all get old. So just be old, ugly, and aware of it.
Why is this so hard to do? I find it stunningly
easy.

And I thank you.

Looks-wise, he reminds me of Kevin Spacey in American Beauty.

One worked out with the goal of banging an 18yo chick in mind (always a noble cause for sure!)

As you can see.....

The other worked out with the goal of becoming more viable to make a run at being the Republican version of Jimmy Carter.

I need to give it up with the politics. I already jinxed Obama.

huck got a law passed down here about vending machines in schools. high school kids are no longer allowed to buy a bag of chips out of the machines. he got skinny and wants everyone else to do the same--a noble cause for sure....of course studies showing kids gain weight in the summer while out of school, away from those horrible vending machines had no bearing. and let's not even talk about personal choice, as that has no bearing with mr huck. now i understand he wants a federal ban on smoking--it is bad for you, you know.

but then, some say the same about gambling, drinking, porn, trans fats, sodium, fried foods, sugar, etc etc. but i'm sure it's all for our own good.

I think everyone needs to take a hard look at Duncan Hunter.

Anyone that has campaigned as long as he has without even an acknowledgement by the media must have some redeeming value..

If he would just cry or maybe scream out "...and we're going to Washington to take back the White House eeeeyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"

He might stand a chance.....

He had a huge lead in the polls with 24 hours to go - and he supposedly goes out for dinner with his family once the polls close.

He'd have had to come up with a concession speech right off the top of his head.

He didn't even seem to have enough time to change his music that played at the end of his speech.

It was probably the first time ever that a losing candidate had that Stevie Wonder song 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours' playing after his speech.

Obama is going to try and fine tune his message...he has hired Kelly Tilghman
as a consultant

ArlJim78 01-10-2008 10:01 AM

i see where Obama now has the support of John (f'n) Kerry.

I'm curious how other established party regulars are going to handle this fight. stick with the Clinton regime, or take a chance on the new guy?
