Pete,
The only thing we need to worry about is how bad those Northern based horses are going to wash out. The weather couldn't be nicer. I give an edge to the Calder based horses early in the meet (although it hasn't been as big an edge recently as in the past). I also like to see mulitple works over the Tampa sand for the shippers. That helps in two ways, gets them used to the funky surface and you know they've been here for a bit and have adjusted to the heat.

That does seem to help alot when running over the dirt. It is one of the few tracks left where works over the surface seem to matter.

Penn National is crapola, but dangit if I don't always seem to end up cashing tickets there. I understand Kev's perspective on this one.

This may just be an abberation, but I've noticed that shippers from Hoosier run well here early in the meet...don't ask me why...but I notice that angle each year

Im a bit concerned...there isn't a Sally Mitchellhill sighting for opening day:(

and on the brighter side of things, there is no Jose "the choke" Ferrer sighting either

I did miss it...dammit. At least his first mount is out of the pick 4 sequence and his other is an AE....so maybe, just maybe I can get through opening day without him riding in the pick 4.

slotdirt 12-07-2007 09:33 AM

This GPK talk has me jonesing for some action. Thank God they're still running at Laurel.
