I took it to mean the fastest of the runners in this year's Mile, not in all the runnings of the race.

Yes, NoBiz earned the best figure in this year's race. But War Pass has earned the 2 fastest figs ever for a 2 year old (since TG has been making figures, obviously).

I think it's weird that Midnight Lute ran a 1:09 and got a -7, while Curlin ran 2:00 2/5 and only got a -4. Two different distances, I know, but that still doesn't add up.
