Now I do recall.

What division are you stooping down to this weekend? II or III?

Oh jeez.

Ah know you've got better material than that.

This weekend is the big intra-county game against Eastern Michigan, don't ya know?

They run one of those new, fancy, whiz-bang spread offenses, so the Michigan defense is likely to be VERY confused.

Oh geez.....goo-foo!

Uh..WEEEELL....next week our SOS will be greatly aided as we take on the mighty Golden Eggs...I mean Flashes of Kent State.

I believe they are 1A.

Indeed. The schedule sets up pretty well for the Buckeyes the rest of the way, with their two toughest opponents playing in Columbus.

Uh...shame on you. Our toughest opponent always resides in AA.

ALWAYS.

You know it ..I know it...and the American people know it..

ror!

I've seen enough games in the series where the team that appeared down and overmatched going into the game won, so I know that Michigan has a shot. But, I think most of those times for Michigan were in the John Cooper era, and things are different now. It pains me to say it, but this Michigan team just ain't very good.

But history does show the records never mean a thing....but they have to Avoid Lloyd.

Remember 2 years ago when they ,on the last drive, went for it on 4th and 2 at their own 38 or so...but he punted on 4th and 4 from OUR 34?

That was the game right there. I held my breath thinking he would go for it.....and released it when that stupid pooch punt out of field goal formation was done.

WRETCH!!

You have hit on one of my major problems with this coaching staff. Their decisions on fourth down are mind boggling. I don't even want to think about all the times he has punted on 4th and makeable inside the oppositions 40. Not to mention the wonderful decision he made this year against the 1AA school to attempt a 43 yard field goal in a situation where even if your obviously unreliable kicker happens to get lucky and make it, it still does very little for you, because Appalachian can still drive down the field against your obviously struggling defense and score a TD to win the game. Meanwhile, if you convert the 4th and 5 against the 1AA school, you've won the game.

It's not 1985 any more. I'm not sure they realize that.

I really have noticed how he plays not to lose.

Cooper actually did do OSU a lot of good..he really did....but that's the way he coached the game,too...not to lose. I hate that...you're right.

You can't play it that way unless you have one great defense and they don't come around too often.

This is one of the things I admire about Tressell as a coach. In 2002, he had great defense, special teams and a good running game, and he used a philosophy that played to those strengths. Last year, he had a great QB and receivers, and implemented a style that was totally different, but suited his talent. The Michigan staff always coaches like they have the 1997 roster, and most of the time, they don't. (I should say that I do have great respect for Lloyd and think he is a fine man. Just time for a different philosophy.)

Oh yes.. Carr seems like a good guy.

You don't know how much I barfed at Tressels game coaching in that 2nd year.

I kept saying we are going nowhere with that play not to lose plan.

Yet it kept working...and seeing how he operates I can see how he really does know what he's doing....and he is very flexible in his mind.

So I do fear, like you did with Cooper, this may be Lloyds last year.

They have to get out of the Bo/Woody era.

They do. I really don't know if Lloyd is going anywhere after this year. There are some signs that indicate that this might be it, but it's entirely up to him, and I'm not sure anyone knows where he really stands.

Except maybe PeanutShell.
