my inside secret source to the world of discreet cat has informed me they plan on never running him in america again.

they had an article that i read earlier that said they think he'll work a few times at toga, but won't race til belmont. surprised they're still trying with the horse.

what's the usual recovery period for a throat infection??

i doubt the throat infection is true. after all, everyone knows discreet cat is impervious to germs.

Will he or Won't he ???

Lava Man - will he win ?

i have a rough estimate at 25% (has as good or better chance as anyone but is by no means a lock)

in the O'Brien Include the two obvious horses, and then I think you have to toss Bordonaro from at least the exacta. I rank Publication and even Absolute Glory higher. The later is not a strong win candidate but merits use in exotics.

Tiago is scratched, Sherriffs hates the polytrack just as much as baffert.

he is at 28% (2/7) at DelMar, compared to 21% for the year.
I wonder why he hates it so much?

After watching the last 2 days races at Del Mar, I think the above opinion is wrong and I have changed my mind. Bordonaro has an opportunity here to run away with it. Speed has been holding well at the sprints and even some of the 8.5 furlong races. Horses have been pulling away and mostly winning or placing without the bunched up, fanning-out that we have come to love in our artificial racing.

The Classic - hard to use this much here at 10 furlongs... not a bad surface for Lava Man thats for sure.

I have been told he does not think its safe, not any anti speed issue.

5 of those starts were on turf and both wins were. he has some well bred two year olds he wont run until santa anita on the cushion track.

Thats a big field for the Pacific. They are not bailing out giving this to Lava Man. Part of that has to be the surface. Maybe lots of trainers think they got a shot. I think this is good.

We got speed, stalkers, closers... good stuff.

Hello Sunday

not so...

he's still running his four year old in the race, so it's not safety. really makes no sense to me. he's got a track that favors closers, and a three year old who is a closer. if it was safety, he'd scratch all of them, right? mentions in the article that another horse came back tired (aren't they all tired after a race?) and i guess he wants something a bit easier on tiago. easy to blame it on the track tho, the current whipping boy in cali.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-19-2007 05:54 PM

I would take Sun Boat, but would only do it at 6-1 or higher. What will that horse go off at..9/2?

saying he is "not handling the track" is the same way as saying I have a colt here worth 10 million bucks and I am not about to take a shot on this stuff, ap excellent who is a dog **** horse is worth the risk. He has owners so he still has to run, but can you tell me why he has not run a single two year old, and he has a barn full, and only 2 dirt horses to date?

I think you could have got that if Lava Man had not drawn PP 1.

Perhaps because he has a bunch of speed and they will die like dogs? Just like Baffert.

ArlJim78 08-19-2007 06:13 PM

I see the espn broadcast of the Pacific Classic is being preceded by the High school scrabble championship.

gee i hope that the scrabble show doesn't go into extra words, i mean overtime.
