Yes, I am.

His phrase, "the horse that won 11 (Ecclesiastic) broke from the 8 hole," is beyond my comprehension and, most likely, beyond anybody's.

Yes you are.

We were applauding him for having a $50 horse as his top selection. How anybody bet the races was up to them. Matt said it was "exacta day", he may have been playing around or he may have been betting them, it really doesn't matter.

He had the horse on top, it paid $50, that's good handicapping in anybody's book.

It sort of goes beyond that.....Matt posted his picks. He never said " I'm a genius....I am betting x phony internet dollars on them.....I love them all....blah blah blah. " He also never came back and patted himself on the back. A few people noticed he made one terrific pick and congratulated him. But, of course, a couple jerks had to suggest God knows what for God knows what reason. It's just the typical crap that goes on in message boards that basically discourages people from sharing information. Pathetic losers who can't stand to see anyone even possibly winning a bet.

But, look at it this way Bigs, it's basically just a backlash from how pissed off they are that you and Scavs made a score earlier this week. There has to be some consolation in knowing that.

i hear that..bigs 2 pick six scores and scavs 1 are worthy of kudos for sure...my intent was to do an exersise and see what the roi would be from the plays posted in hopes of getting some here to see that it may work for them..to try it..but in the end it was a bust..as there is allways a hater on frigging board...and if i was to pat myself on the back its would be for the late double at church paying 1200 sat ..2 fifty and one 30 horse sunday..as you said why bother,,,,,,,,,,lol

If you had to give advice on how to bet 3 selections or 4 selections how would you tell them to bet them ? I think by throwing out there that many plays you confuse the common bettor.

paisjpq 05-28-2007 09:57 AM

he has stated over and over again that they are simply a guide for everyone outlining the horses he likes in any given race....no one (even Matt) suggests that they are to be used as some type of rosetta stone.

robfla 05-28-2007 09:58 AM

can we move on to Monday's races? :)

XIIPointStables 05-28-2007 09:58 AM

Keep doing it Matt. I'm sure myself and many others consult your picks with our own weekend handicapping.

I appreciate when you and Steve (and the many others) post their picks. Maybe someday I'll get the internet courage to do so.

I'm pretty light on Belmont opinions today.

You missed the point. If a new person comes to the board and see's these plays, what advice would you give him on how to bet those plays ? Its just a common question a new person might ask if he or she was to read them posts. To me,I use my own judgement on what others play.:D

actually i think you are missing the point...he isn't putting out 'plays' he is putting up his opinion about the most likely horses in the races...making 'plays' is a personal decision that even a beginner has to learn for himself.

to see a person who puts out plays check out what gus/bogey does...he lays out plays with his opinion.

Thank you,but you dont have to teach me anything on the subject, been doing this a long time, maybe longer then you.I was just looking at it as a stand point of a new member reading the post.

I was not trying to teach you anything but nice job trying to imply that since you may have been at this longer than me that you know more about it...that's quality.
i'm not a handicapper nor have I ever claimed to be....and quite frankly new member or not/skilled handicapper or not--anyone who joins an internet message board and just blindly bets whatever opinions are posted about races deserves whatever outcome they get...

You want advice? Here's advice.

1. If the man is gracious enough to share his thoughts on a race, that's enough, period. If it sparks any well meant and modulated debate/discussion, that's even better.

2. If you want to turn his thoughts into betting "advice," take the longest price of whatever horses he lists for a race and bet it to win.

3. It's a great thing that serious horseplayers are sharing ideas and races they like. The worst thing that happens is that someone gives an extra measure of thought to a horse they did not initially like. At it's best, some very good things can -- and do -- happen here.

4. If you are suggesting anyone here is claiming a novice horseplayer can make long term returns off of anyone's listed selections made a day before a race is run, you are wrong and that is what you are suggesting.

5. If a novice player, or anyone, is able to learn how another person saw merit in a long priced horse they had dismissed and learned in the process, that's what I think most of us are hoping for and the reason why we enjoy this group.

You want more advice? Contact my advisor, at www.mysticzelda.com.

good luck.
