Not the worst breakdown I've ever seen - that's tied between the San Luis Obispo on President's Day, 1973, when Tuqui and Autobiography both broke down, independently, and the 1982 Marlboro Cup, when Timely Writer went down and took out half the field.

worst i've seen are during those steeplechase races at the Spa. First race of the season a couple years ago, I dont remember exactly but I think 9 started and 2 or 3 finished. Amazingly I think all (or almost all) of the horses were ok, but they were all just laying there.

I was stunned NBC showed it!!! That's the last thing I'd think they'd want to show on the one year anniversary.

I hit the Pick 4, but I didn't realize until they showed the results that I was still alive. Seeing these rare tragedies really puts a pit in my stomach and I lose track of all else occurring. It's fortunate it didn't hurt anyone else with him falling in front of the field. It initially looked as though a chain reaction disaster would take place, but only Albarado had to bail.

Lastly, those jocks continue to amaze with their physical and mental toughness.
