FFC in front of Street Sense and Hard Spun?
This list makes even less sense than your "five best horses since 1986" signature.

Looks like I will land on Curlin also, & a Street Sense - Curlin exacta box.

Hickory Hill Hoff 05-18-2007 10:13 PM

The play here is...

STREET SENSE / HARD SPUN / CURLIN

triple box

The "chalk" rules also in the Preakness, much like today's Black Eyed Susan

I fell in love with Hard Spun in New Orleans and see no reason not to keep the faith. He's got speed AND stamina and such a cute face. And he runs like Chief's Crown, stretching his neck and leveling out.

Did you meet him in a bar?

He shouldn't be doing that..he's in training.

Good call DrugsS

hoovesupsideyourhead 05-19-2007 05:29 PM

yes you called it....congrats

The Bid 05-19-2007 05:36 PM

That really was more than a called shot. From now until the end of my life anytime I see the finish of the 07 preakness Ill be thinking "hang like a rotten Salami" Then if the visual wasnt enough Borel says he just kind of gets the lead and likes to hang around. The salami vidication.

Like I said though, no self-respecting bettor could possibly play Street Sense off the kind of trips he's built his mighty repute with.

My entire betting strategy focuses on my steadfast opinion that Street Sense hangs through the final 1/8th, and finishes underneath, and that only another act-of-god trip prevents that from happening.

I have long distained Circular Quay---Hard Spun and Curlin are the two remaining horses in the race who aren't complete and utter dog biscuits.

So, for the record, it's Curlin for me---but, from a betting standpoint, I will try to lock up 8/1 odds on a Curlin/HS over SS exacta.

Big Deal...you win....La tee Fooking da....Gloat gloat Gloat

yeah they just showed the overhead (somewhat) replay and you see SS running so fast then he gets the lead and just hangs. Too bad cause he ran a heck of a race and would have had a great shot in the Belmont IMO. But then again, I am thrilled with the outcome cause the Curlin DD paid much better than SS.

Got over 10-1....hope you hammered.

cmorioles 05-19-2007 05:41 PM

Nice call. I was right about Hard Spun, but wrong about Curlin. I was right that he would be bet heavier than most anticipated.

However, I'm assuming you didn't bet, since he was only 3 to 1. No way the Curlin/HS over SS exacta was 8 to 1 either. Correct?

fpsoxfan 05-19-2007 05:41 PM

I hope he did too.

I like the guy. I hope he hit the exacta really hard. He did not, however, get 8-1. He got 9 to 2, or maybe just slightly higher if he weighted the bets to get equal return.

You are right....I am wrong. I was just considering a straight Curlin/SS exacta. Forgot he was gonna use Hard Spun as well. 9/2 is a far cry from 8/1. 9/2 still aint bad if he hammered it and didnt bet Curlin at 3/1

pmacdaddy 05-19-2007 05:59 PM

Split bets with pointman, both liked Curlin, but he nailed the race (win, tri, super). Thanks brother!!

Here is text of e-mail I sent him during Post Parade. Should have doubled down...LOL

"Nick,

Curlin just took a massive dump, he has to win..."
