It's not that he has zero talent, but that he has never run incredibly fast. Chuck commented on it earlier yesterday before the race, and I didn't get a chance to check it out until after work -- but it was remarkable to see how unimpressive his figures were against the other real contenders on the trail.

yep he was slow right from the start as a 2yo when he ran in 58 first time out, in 5 lifetime outs hes won 3 times and banked over 200k, whata absolute rat who the heck would wanna own him LOL

Instead of writing a whole new post, I'll just quote myself:

figz are justa tool and not the be all end all and are not a 100% accurate. if figz were that dead on every winning horse would be 1/9. ill trust my own eyes over figz everyday

Well ok, outside of figs -- he looked good winning an allowance race from just off the pace.

Then he looked like he had it all his own way on the front end of a stakes race including showstoppers Air Commander, Level Red (see yesterday's stellar last-place finish), Dee Rain, and Grapelli who didn't run a lick, and you have not only a horse who was suspect as far as figures go -- but also highly overbet based on the way his stakes win played out and the ones who traipsed home behind him.

I know you're sad about losing your Derby pick from way back, but yesterday just confirmed what a lot of people thought -- that he was going to have the same problems as Brother Derek did after that one showed the way in races very similar to Blue's San Felipe.

True but they seemed to be well supported after looking at yesterdays results. I would have thought that he was running real big figs because everyone seemed so high on him. But his figures were pretty ordinary for a derby type horse and he did nothing yesterday to prove those numbers wrong. Does not mean that he wont be a good horse but he is not among the fastest of his generation yet. Truthfully how many of these late comers to the Triple Crown trail ever have a real impact in any of the TC races?

Just looked at the TG figs, not only was he slower than most going in, his last two races were 5 (top), 7 (2 points off), and then yesterday, shipping cross country on 3 weeks rest.. this is the classic 0-2-(X) predictable pattern, and I know I'm writing this after the fact;) I did not play Cobalt Blue yesterday, nor did I play Cowtown Cat.
