a team will go on a long losing streak and all the locals will be sad. then they'll start a long winning streak and everyone will be lining up to buy playoff tickets. they'll finish around .500.

george will writes a long boring piece about the beauty the arc of a long boring season has and how it reflects life or america or poetry and all is good and wonderful so long as we all have baseball. if there is any justice in the world he will be maimed by a foul ball line drive at national stadium and unable to write afterwards.

in early may i will be looking down the bright metallic double barrell of 6 more months of this intermnible season and wondering if i can make it to the opening of nfl camps in july without pulling the trigger.

in the most fitting monument one can imagine to baseball's policeing itself on steroids, barry bonds will break the all time homerun record. no one outside of san francisco will feel anything but sad. except me. i'll be experiencing schadenfreude.

PointGiven, give me a good reason why the Tigers, Angels, Mets, or the Astros can't win more games than the Yankees this year. Wait, nevermind, the Yankees have Pavano and Igawa as their pitchers so they are set.
