I think it looks like a good betting race. Price horses I think are live include Outperformance, Lewis Michael, & Can't Beat It. Outperformance may be my prime play (I hope he handles the distance) with good late pace figures.

Your life does not stink. YOu are doing better in life than anytime in the last three years. You just aren't mature enough yet to realize that getting a job, continuing to hold it, losing weight, etc has made your folks real proud and should make you proud as well. If you would get your head out of your ass about this girl who tossed you 4 years ago, you would realize this.

I think its a very entertaining bunch of horses offering tremendous wagering value. You have a horse like Showing Up, who is either going to flop or win going away, as the favorite. You have the consistent but less than brilliant Stream Cat who will take tons of money for Frenchy. I am throwing both of these horses out.

Should be a nice little race. Not sure why anybody would expect a "Million Dollar" type field.

Your point wasn't that bad. The fact is that on July 15 they basically have the identical race, same purse, 1/16 mile longer, 3yr olds, and it is a Grade II. The same horses probably will Show Up. Yes Show Up. There is your winner.

The Virginia Derby has been run for more years, so it is eligible for grading.

You must be hoping that Showing Up takes after his dad, because his mum's side hasn't produced many horses that have shown much liking for the green stuff. Turf records like x/0-0-0 in my APR.

I am well aware of how they grade races, but we shouldn't attack guys who don't know everything.

Showing Up loves the turf. I guess he does take after his dad. He actually has the same demeanor as Strategic Mission. SM was a pretty nice turf horse. His bottom isn't exactly garbage. He is out of a TV Commercial mare. Last I checked TV Commercial finished 3rd in the KY Derby. In my opinion, this race will not be competitive. He has way too much class and is much faster than the other horses in this race.

I agree. Since looking at this race more closely I think he romps if he likes the turf. I watched the derby again yesterday and Showing Up is much better than I thought. Horse has a real future.

I thought that Stream Cat was the m/l fave? Do you think that will change? I hope not...

Never said they were garbage, just that they didn't seem to excell on grass. For the record, his dam Miss Alethia has produced 3 previous foals, the best of which, by turf star Elusive Quality, was Gimmeawink, a SW on dirt, but unplaced in 2 turf tries. Miss Alethia was a dirt winner who only placed on turf while her full brother It's a Rerun was an out-and-out dirt sprinter - won the Shecky Greene in Chicago, placed in the Phoenix and Churchill Downs. T. V. Commercial had some stamina while racing, but as a stallion he sired more sprinter/miler types, horses like It's Freezing.

Pedigree Ann 06-23-2006 08:47 PM

Hey you Kitten's Joy fans - Lewis Michael is out of a half-sister to KJ, and she was a turf SW at the listed level, too. By Rahy, looks good to me.

sumitas 06-23-2006 09:26 PM

well, Tagg says Showing Up is training like a tiger on turf and that's why they are there.

Pointg5 06-23-2006 10:05 PM

Should be a good betting race tomorrow, I'll take a stand against Showing Up, until he runs a race on Turf, I don't care how he's training....

As a side topic, I think one of the worst mistakes the commi tte made was making the Clark Handicap a Grade 1 this year, most of the G1 quality routers have hung it up by that time of the year, maybe they'll stay in training a little longer and try to get a G1, but I would rather see it go to the Arkansas Derby, strip the Blue Grass of any graded stature as well, since it's going to poly, there should be no graded racing on poly track.

Bold.....Jerry is yet another that causes stupid controversy on here from time to time. Oracle and him, from what I understand, are actually friends. Jerry needs to be attacked with a cue stick across the forehead sometimes.

sumitas 06-24-2006 01:26 PM

the turf is rated firm down at Colonial, after the first few races.

Which guy is Jerry? Nothing bothers me on chats sites so they should feel free to say whatever they want. If they are NYers, they are par for the course.

WOW--I was totally wrong on Showing Up. What a great performance. I do apologize to Showing Up. Very very nice.
