10 mins would be reasonable, it would require so much attention though it might not be self-sufficient. |

One of those lousy California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza was $8.29 at Kroger.
Things are getting bad when 4 bags of groceries cost more than a day rate for an escort. |
This is a great video from OccupyBoston.com website, about the night the Boston police came and destroyed the second camp - which was livestreamed btw - they came in and took all the campers belongings over a couple hour, and threw them out (stealing private property, but I guess that doesn't count - - then came back for the protesters, going through the Veterans for Peace first
We had this odd announcement from the mayor of Boston: Quote:

Now for the rest of my ideas and my presidential platform. which will get me killed both here and in real life for real if I was running. Allow all internet gambling and tax it... Billions of Bucks there. LOWER CORPORATE TAX to 10% and allow repatriation of profits one time 10% tax.... Millionares all is well, current tax structure is fine. HOWEVER Tax the sh*t on companies using H1B labor or outsourcing Labor.. Immediately stop H1B, anyone on an extension gets 90 days to vacate. Anyone on an H1B in the loop for a green card gets the boot. (We probably are talking a million jobs here but of course there is no where to get the stats because we would be outraged) Do not allow companies to declare costs on their taxes for ANY WORK done outside the US against income. What this gives us is a HUGE amount of US Citizens back to work and paying taxes... HMO's for profit... Horrible Idea and gone... HMO's non-profit. CEO's of non-profits income no more than 100 x minimum wage. (Breaking these up however I have no fuking idea how this will work but I am honest) Publicly funded elections... X amount of money to be given to each major party and Y amount to rest. Anyone found accepting money from anyone be it a lobbyist or their mom gets 10 years in the fed pen NO PAROLE... |
I'd vote for you for Congress, jms. Go for it!

Fact 1: Cities are hurting financially Fact 2: In the near term nothing being protested will change anything about fact 1 Fact 3: Anyone who dares bring up facts 1 and 2 will be browbeaten into being "for millionaires" or other foolish labels. The amazing thing is that Riot has actually semi-supported things that were being done by a Democratic Gov in a firmly democratic state (NY tax credits) and supported a position that Obama opposes (transaction taxes). |

Again maybe this time you will answer the question if you can comprehend it. If you were the police and given orders to disperse a crowd that refused to move what would you do? |

Isn't that capitalism? |

It's only your own opinion that protesting will not change anything, not a fact. Nobody has browbeaten you for being "a millionaire" (nice "I'm a victim" attempt, though) so that's not a fact. If you think I've supported NY tax credits here, you need to re-read the thread (I've not said if I do or not, you've just assumed I do, but if you bothered to ask, no, I do not) Ah, you've fallen back to your straw men and ad hominem :tro: |

I was thinking of the food producers though. Because we all know that there are scores of american citizens itching to work the lettuce fields. |

Exactly where did I call anyone a name? I stated that very few citizens of the US know much if anything about a fairly obscure act of Congress. It is hard to believe that anyone would believe that 40% of the protesters at Occupy Wall street are familar with it considering virtually every person with any gripe in the NY metro area has been there protesting something. The idea that almost half the people there understand what the act means or what was amended is a stretch of epic proportions. No you were against the Tax credits which is new for you considering you usually fall into lockstep with anything Democratic. What about your guy Obama's opposition to the transaction tax? No comments on that? Intersting that you chose to ignore the 3 facts that I did post I will give you credit for consistency |

Regarding what I would do, I would seek a result that the crowd might be able to accept without them seeing it as a defeat...perhaps relocation to another site, a hearing to express grievances, anything that would allow them to gracefully disperse. My main ally should be time...as long as there is no violence, there is no need to rush in and bust heads. In the end however, the police cannot address the issues that brought about this situation, it is up to those holding the power to do so and only public outcry can convince them to address same. |
The rulers shall not hear any grievances from the peasants. Preposterous. Back to work with thee, swine!!
