fair eneough , that is a part of the equation

also bob , a lot of people didn't think another clinton was electable .....if not for Barack , Mrs Clinton would be at 1600 Penn ave right now

he won 2/3 times in a state that favors dems

he did well with hispanics

tell me why if the economy continues to spiral downhill , why wouldn't he have a chance

His last name does not help.
At all.

Although Barbara claims Jeb is smarter.
Jeb is rumored to be able to pronounce nuclear.

we know that , but, if we are in the toilet bowl and the republicans nominate him , tell me why he can't win , he'll have more energy then mccain , he could start off with florida and texas in his back pocket and work to 271 electoral votes from there

Remember since FDR we have only had 1 democrat to get elected twice - Bill Clinton

Do you really want to compare the way the country felt about the name "clinton" after his 8 years and the way the country feels about the name "bush" after his?

Fair or unfair, a majority of the country points the finger at Bush for a majority of our problems today. Fair or unfair, he will go down as one of the worst presidents in history. Fair or unfair, Jeb was associated in a negative light for getting him elected in the first place.

and you actually think he has a shot at being President?

Thank you again.:tro:

I think our current Gov... and new senator in 2010 Charlie Crist, has a better shot than a 3rd Bush. Jeb Bush may be a better politician than his bro.. shoot he could be the best pol in the history of politics, and he'd lose with the last name. He'll be grouped with Palin though he may be a million times better option than Palin.

we'll revisit this in 4 yrs , but, if barack doesn't get us out of the toilet bowl and plunges us further down , bush will be live in '12

You seriously overestimate the supidity of republicans. Contrary to what you see on this forum, many republicans can be rather bright.

let me ask you this , if the ecomony is in bad shpae in '12 and nothing that the incumbent did is working , why wouldn't he run - he has shown in 2 elections that he can get the hispanic vote , the fastest growing vote in the country , what other republican has showed success at getting a 56% of the hispanic vote in a statwide election , he is the only republican to ever get re-elected to gov in the state of FLA

If the ecomony is bad or even fair ,he runs, and i think he starts with Texas and Florida in his pocket (2 very big electoral college states) , what other Republican can you say that about

He can win.

Look.
There is no doubt the economy boosted Obama into office.
The economy can boot him right back out.

gales0678 06-18-2009 11:43 AM

north carolina and virginia are states that can also go back to the republicans very easy if nothing improves by '12

rpncaine 06-18-2009 11:44 AM

And Indiana.

Did my level best to get Bubba back in there.

Felt he was the best option for cleaning up the economic wreckage after eight years of Bush-Cheney 'leadership'.

Hopefully BO is up to this historic, monumental challenge.

By the way, if that Rev. Wright story would've broken a little earlier in the primary season, Bubba would've been back in business, in my estimation...

Im the one who posted that the republicans need to rebrand themselves and find a new voice. That was the point of the thread. Trotting the same old voices in 2012 is going to get them beat again regardless of how bad things are.

I dont know the stats of hispanic votes in montana, fla or any other state. common sense tells me that jeb bush wouldnt have a prayer and it really is kind of silly to even discuss it and im not trying to be mean.

that's fine , we can re-visit in '12 , but stranger things have happened

Whose numbers are you using? I tried to find my Rasmussen report from then (not a member) which is where I thought I got that figure (remember it from), but apparently didn't save it. All I can find searching now is that he got about 3 mil votes from GOP.

If only 9%, that means there weren't many people calling themselves Republicans last November!

CNN. Obama got 9% of the Republican votes, McCain got 10% of the Democrat votes (think Appalachia), and Obama won the independents 52 to 44 percent.

If you break it down by voters identifying themselves as Liberal/Moderate/Conservative then he got 20% of the Conservative vote.

For me it was simply because Obama was obviously intelligent. I couldn't do eight more years of dumb, aggressive, simple-minded, close-minded, non-reality based/non-scientific orientation based presidenting. The world is too complex and too scary.

And after hearing John McCain (who I LOVED and was eager to vote for, but that faded fast as the campaign trail advanced) in the last day say Obama should be more aggressive on rhetoric towards Iran's current "let's hope it's a revolution", I'm darn, DARN happy I didn't vote McCain, holy crap.

I worried alot about the experience, but knew he'd surround himself with those who knew, as he had repeatedly demonstrated his ego isn't too big to learn from others.

I really wish that alot of the Obama-haters, instead of listening to media interpretations and small soundbites (I don't care, right or left, doesn't matter), would look at the entire interview and judge for themselves.

For example, today I got a chance to watch the entire MSNBC interview (the one where Obama swatted the fly).

How can anybody say this man needs a teleprompter :p , or that he's not thought far ahead on the complexities of the bank bailouts, the car companies, the economy? Good lord, he's impressive!
