ainge is also on the jets roster. i laughed today when they played the clip where lemons said he should get the start because he worked hard the last few years-you don't get to start due to work ethic, you have to be capable as well. whether he proves himself good enough to be #1 or not is the question...then again, there's capable and there's better than the other guys on the team-there is a difference.
at any rate, favre did the jets no favors by coming and playing for a year as far as their QB situation is concerned.

TJ is one of the hardest workers in the NFL and the ball was ripped out of his hands by this interception machine. If I were him, I would've said a lot more.

That he is. I remember seeing a piece on him mid-year, that dude is straight ripped. I did all but write him off going into the year and he made me look foolish. I'm sure I'll hear it from my brother come fantasy draft time, but I'll retort with Larry Fitz and Roddy White, both guys that he said werent even the best on their respective teams.

As for the QB position, they would be alot better off going into the year using Clemens as plan B. Either way, you'll be better off without that stratus cloud, aka Favre's decisions to lob the ball up for pickins. Leftwich didnt look too bad when asked upon for the Stillers, but can't see him in a Jets jersey. Garcia would be the veteran answer IMO, but at what price? Could definitely see them going QB somehwere in the draft. Rhett Bomar maybe?? Patrick White could be interesting but they already have Brad Smith, so who knows?? Not saying either fit in, just throwing it out there for discussion. Interested to see what direction they go in regards to the position.

As for the defense, I'm looking for that facet of the team to improve dramatically. Pettine Jr. was a HUGE addition and is on his way to becoming a head coach in a few years. He'll be on the same page as Ryan as far as schemes go, which couldnt be said for Mangini and Sutton. They already have pieces in place (Revis and Jenkins to name a few) and can build around them. I'll never forget going to see North Penn(area hs) play (Pettine Jr. was then HC) and my dad telling me to remember this guys name. I never forgot it and here he is. Wish him the best of luck in his new capacity and I'm sure he'll be bringing in the fresh air that Jets fans have been seeking.

Now that is out of the way, thank GOD that BF is done. I dont even want to say or type his name, I'm sick of it. Fade away, like most of your deep balls, and go back to doing movies with Cameron Diaz.

If you think you are close to being a Super Bowl team, Garcia is a no brainer. Doesn't look like the Bucs are going to try to re-sign him.

Bigs, what do you think of McCown for the Bucs? I'm thinking he could turn out to be a surprise. His re-signing all but closes the door on Garcia, right?

I guess I didn't realize I called "TJ"...how cute..."lazy"...

Yeah..and if you didn't have Favre, that game against Miami would have featured a half filled Meadowlands in December. Good luck next year

That's the speculation, that Garcia is gone. I liked him. He protected the ball unbelievable well this year, until the Chargers busted his nose open and he threw two picks quickly after that.

McCown said he wouldn't re-sign unless he was assured of having the opportunity to compete for the starting job. He got the assurance and signed. I would be shocked if he wasn't the starter.

I think the Bucs are trying get younger. Under Chucky/Allen all they did was get older every year.

I don't think Garcia has the arm strength to succeed in the Meadowlands. I'm not sure about Simms but Leftwich still has a big arm and played pretty well in limited action. He would be my choice behind that O-line.

LOL, sorry you still have latent man love for Favre, but that doesn't mean TJ (Cute? Um, everyone calls him that..) was out of line. I'd prefer a player reflect what Jet fans were thinking and saying than give the PC "there are 55 players" response..

Declans, I'll respond to your post later on.

Joey..look at the title of the thread, who started it and what I've posted about him. I think I've tried to be pretty objective. My point is that when you sign a home run hitter who strikes out a lot, you know what you're getting. Same story with Favre,..that's all.

And I saw Jones play for several years in Chicago and know how hard a worker he is. But that still won't get him in the HOF and he sure back peddled pretty quickly from his comments so maybe he realized he spoke out of frustration and should have kept quiet.

Garcia, at best, would be a one year option. Leftwich, who I'm not a huge fan of, MIGHT be a better option. His problem with the Jags was holding on to the ball too long, taking big hits, and getting hurt alot. His overall performance wasn't awful. Simms is a complete guess, you could bring him in to compete for the starting job, certainly wouldn't just hand it to him. I'm OK with giving Clemens or Ratliff the chance to start this season. It just seems based on what I have read that neither has the full backing of Schottenheimer, who would obviously know them best.
I guess it's mostly the known (Garcia), versus the unknown. Also, I don't think it's good for a franchise to change QB's on a yearly basis.

I agree with you about Thomas Jones. He was on the radio to promote his "music", was probably caught a bit off guard with the questions, and his words were absolutely taken out of context.

i can't blame a team the likes of minnesota for attempting to get him. he's still better than a lot of other qb's out there.

King Glorious 05-02-2009 09:25 AM

You can't blame a guy for teams saying they'd be interested if there was a chance.
