Just because he is built like him and looks similar to him in that picture does not mean he is him.

truly, it would not surprise me if that was what she was aiming at.

I did not mean for anyone to be picked
on. I just thought Curlin looked like
a submarine on that crazy video
from equidaily.

We're not picking on anyone... lots of horses have resembled Secretariat and I believe that is all she was referring to anyway.

If this thread was on The Gong Show, I would have rang the bell a while back.

If Curlin is physically like any of the greats it's Affirmed.

Disagree ... Affirmed had a more finely wrought head and leaner neck and was not as muscle bound ... Overall he was less bulked up and butch ... Undoubtably the reference was to Secretariat, coy as it was ....

I didn't think Affirmed was a very big horse.

Linny 03-01-2008 09:40 PM

Affirmed had a bigger heartgirth and weighed more than Secretariat.

Secretariat was 16'2, 1200 lbs and had a huge heart girth. Affirmed must have been some kind of monster.

Danzig 03-01-2008 10:31 PM

74.5-affirmeds girth size, who stood at 16.1, with alydar at 16.1 1/2 and the same size girth as affirmed-this at the end of their 3 yo season-from the t'bred legends book.
secretariat had a 75" girth according to an article from time. edit--that article was also when secretariat was three, before the belmont i believe. the two above were measured at the end of their 3 yo season, according to the book.

I'll ask the person who gave me the info. I think he got it from Richard Stone Reeves.
