Can't wait!
Hey ed I heard that Vital King runs Friday instead. If you happen to see anything could you please post it? Thanks! |
Yeah that's right, they decided it would be better to start off in a slightly easier spot before going against the big horses. The $2 million Kelt at the start of October is their main target. That's going to be a great race - Fritzy Boy, Princess Coup, Boundless, Nom du Jeu, Red Ruler, Katy Keen...
Here's the Mudgway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Msmq0ec5I0 |
Thanks for the replay and the news!

Hmm, 'easier spot'?

Oh God!
Okay must send him happy thoughts now... :D |
No luck for Vital King, sorry. The race was a bit too short for him though, I'm sure he'll do better next time. Nom du Jeu won the race. :)
The highlight of the day was one of the other races though. Have a look at this. Fully Fldeged. Not bad for his first run back, against a couple of stakes-winning older horses carrying the top weight. http://www.dailymotion.com/classicco...-fledged_sport |
Good for FF and yeah didn't expect my boy could beat NDJ.
Any idea where he finished? Thanks! |
10th, but only 6.2 lengths behind the winner.

How's Sir Slick, ed? Is he getting a break now?
|
I think so...I hope so! Poor guy. :( He hasn't had a break for more than a year!
|
Class at Hastings tomorrow...as usual!
Race 2 - 3yo Hcp 1400m 1 215X1 Fully Fledged 6 92 60.5 Leith Innes Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge 2 480X4 Noble Manor 5 70 54.0 Noel Harris Mark Walker, Matamata-Rangiora 3 41 Dunkerque 1 68 53.5 Michael Coleman Mike & Paul Moroney, Matamata 4 3X1 Firebolt 3 68 53.5 Andrew Calder Roger James & Paul Mirabelli, Cambridge 5 1 Lauaki 4 68 53.5 Cameron Lammas Vanessa & Wayne Hillis, Matamata 6 6X3 Perky Parrot 7 57 53.0 Kelly Myers (a) Grant Nicholson, Opaki 7 494X Dusty Fog 8 55 53.0 Scratching Anne Herbert, Cambridge 8 Raptor 2 50 53.0 James McDonald (a1) Garry & Steven Barlow, Newbury Park, Palm North Interesting race this. Fully Fledged will be the favourite, but he's carrying a massive weight here and there's some real talent in this field - especially Dunkerque, Firebolt and Lauaki. If Fully Fledged wins this I'm pretty sure he'll win the 2000 Guineas in November - if he beats them carrying that much more weight, how can they beat him at level weights? Race 6 -Gold Trail Stakes (G3 3yo Fillies 1200m) 1 6231X Il Quello Veloce 1 88 56.0 Noel Harris John Sargent, Matamata 2 721X1 Juice 2 77 56.0 Leith Innes John Wheeler, New Plymouth 3 148X2 Lady Alberton 8 74 56.0 Sam Spratt Richard Yuill, Pukekohe Park 4 351X2 Daffodil 5 70 56.0 David Walsh Kevin Gray, Copper Belt Lodge, Palmerston North 5 1 Amaryllis 3 68 56.0 Troy Harris Mark Walker, Matamata-Rangiora 6 3X3 Kybo 7 57 56.0 Vanessa Johnston K W, B W Hawtin & S R Autridge, Te Awamutu 7 6350X Seathepost 6 56 56.0 Bruce Herd Gerald Innes, Opaki 8 47X5X Glamorous Girl 4 54 56.0 Andrew Calder Roger James & Paul Mirabelli, Cambridge I love this race. Il Quello Veloce was the champion 2yo last season, here she's taking on some very impressive fillies. Amaryllis was awesome in her only race, Juice was impressive last start. I have no idea who is the best of those three, should find out tomorrow. :D Race 8 - Stoney Bridge Stakes (G1 WFA 1600m) 1 11122 Bulginbaah 2 109 59.0 Chris Johnson Ken Cropp & Catherine Wilson, Wanganui 2 422X0 Sterling Prince 16 99 59.0 Cameron Lammas Vanessa & Wayne Hillis, Matamata 3 30X75 Magic Cape 4 98 59.0 Hayden Tinsley Shaune Ritchie, Cambridge 4 13X11 Fritzy Boy 10 104 58.5 Brian Hibberd Alby MacGregor, Opaki 5 212X1 Nom du Jeu 13 104 58.5 Noel Harris Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge 6 902X3 Prince Kaapstad 3 98 58.5 Sam Spratt Richard Yuill, Pukekohe Park 7 626X4 Red Ruler 5 94 58.5 Jason Waddell John Sargent, Matamata 8 728X1 Rios 11 94 58.5 Leith Innes Murray & Bjorn Baker, Cambridge 9 998X0 The Pooka (AUS) 9 92 58.5 Lisa Cropp John Wheeler, New Plymouth 10 50X20 Run Like Al 15 87 58.5 David Walsh Mike & Paul Moroney, Matamata 11 222X9 Princess Coup (AUS) 12 109 56.5 Opie Bosson Mark Walker, Matamata-Rangiora 12 32X45 Ombre Rose 1 102 56.5 Andrew Calder Shane Marr, Riccarton Park 13 23X37 Keepa Cruisin 7 90 56.0 Gavin McKeon Stephen McKee, Ardmore 14 26X44 Insouciant 8 87 56.0 Troy Harris Mark Walker, Matamata-Rangiora  Fritz, NdJ, Red Ruler, the Princess, Insouciant...unbelievable. |

Good luck to NDJ and the Princess. Can't wait to see the replay of Fully Fledged winning! (Think he will anyway...) I don't know most of the names in Gold Trial. |
Will post the videos tomorrow, but here are the results:
Race 2: Perky Parrot Lauaki Fully Fledged FF hit the lead just before the turn and kicked away from them, but tired under his weight in the last 100m. Perky Parrot? Who's he? 3yo gelding by Viking Ruler, trained by someone I've never heard of. It was his 3rd start...he was a maiden! He was 26-1. Gold Trail Stakes: Juice Daffodil Il Quello Veloce Juice is the real deal. Awesome performance. Towkay Stakes: Special Mission Beaver Trap Imananabaa Special Mission is a daughter of Towkay and she won the Towkay Stakes! Was her 7th win in 14 starts, really good mare. G1 winner last season. Stoney Bridge Stakes: Princess Coup Nom du Jeu Fritzy Boy The Princess got to $3 million in earnings today. :tro: Awesome performance, was last at the top of the stretch but blew by them. NdJ went ok and Fritz was brave. Can't complain about that race, pretty much perfect. |
Here are the videos now.
First have a look at this one: http://www.dailymotion.com/classicco...lack-oak_sport This is a horse called The Black Oak in Race 1. He's by Pentire, the same sire as Xcellent. He's now 2-for-2, and some people are already comparing him to X! It's way too soon to do that, but he does run his races the same way. So impressive. Now FF's race: http://www.dailymotion.com/classicco...y-parrot_sport Juice in the Gold Trail: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htcvVUPmcWo And Princess Coup in the Stoney Bridge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7DuHfRID18 Great day of racing. :D |
Thanks for the vids and cheers to the Princess! Blazing on by indeed!!!

Jesus. Give him a break already.

Yeah, it's pretty disgusting. Poor Slick. He's not enjoying it anymore.
If he had been trained by someone better he could have done so much more. |
In happier news...a great guy who actually cares about his horses, Roger James, had 2 impressive debut 3yo winners yesterday.
Islington Bay - http://www.dailymotion.com/classicco...gton-bay_sport Quartz Reef - http://www.dailymotion.com/classicco...rtz-reef_sport Both in to about 12-1 in futures betting for the 2000 Guineas in November. FF still fav for that at 3-1. |
Sorry, all the videos I've posted in the last couple of pages that didn't work should all be working now.
