Race #2 - 2YO Filly Trotters
#7 Honorable Daughter looks tough, but is a 6/5 favorite. Musical Mystery gets no respect at 7-1. I like the #2, Yursa Hanover...

2YO Filly Pacers
Couldn't take the chalk in the first, but have to eat it in the 2YO filly pacer division and go with Hawaiian Drink...

Wow, going to light up the toteboard. Fox Valley Topaz charges to take the race at the wire over Twist N Clout.

Absolutely loving Poster Pin Up, too.

Nice way to start this out. Fox Valley Topaz triggered a $820 Exacta and a $10,000 trifecta. Very nice...

That sucks Herk, the 2 looked like she had a perfect trip and was going to pull away. I just watched the race again and Tetrick started to go to the outside just as Andy Miller started to make the same move. He switched back to the pylon and it opened up like the Red Sea. That's the one thing about that place, so many horses shoot up the pylon that you think that there is a passing lane.

In race 5, I think the TVG boys have it right, in that this race is between Muscle Hill and Explosive Matter. Federal Fix does have a chance, but bad post draw.

Now it gets interesting with Deweycheatumnhowe. I don't know if he will get by Crazed tonight, especially with the throat problems of lately. Don't get me wrong, I want him to win, but I don't know if he is going to have it in him...

I am guessing that the fans either don't know about the throat problem with Dewey, or just don't care, as he is an even-money favorite heading into race.

Important for Horse of the Year. Wishing Dewey the best of luck...

Sad to see him fade to 3rd. Great season, and career, for Deweycheatumnhowe. It is all Somebeachsomewhere's game now for Horse of the Year...

I agree, totally falling apart at the end.

Sears should win this one, but I'm just going to watch.

Just got back from the Meadowlands. I wanted to see Billy O' back at the Meadowlands, especially in a BC race. Of course I also wanted to see Somebeachsomewhere again before he retired (and see him avenge the only loss in his career).

A few observations -- that colt is the greatest harness horse to ever look through a bridle. Before him, I gave that honor to Artsplace, although I will say that I never saw Niatross race live, I have seen many of his races on video replays. This colt is beyond incredible. I said it the one time he got beat -- that he was even greater in defeat than most of his wins. He showed then in defeat, and again tonight, that he is a true champion and will go down as one of the greatest of all time.

Tim Tetrick -- sure we all know he's a machine and his numbers are beyond belief, but tonight, he was having trouble walking. He was limping really bad in the winners circle. That double hip replacement is screaming to be done right now. This kid has got more determination to have kept up the schedule he has the past few years, all of that with a degenerative hip condition that he has suffered from since he was born -- and he's been holding off a double hip replacement. Impressive.

Overall, a great night.

Eric

I watched the race with the same thoughts, although now the plans are not to retire him and bring him back for one more race, at Dover Downs in the Matron Stakes series.

The story is that a call was made from the Winners Circle (at least that is the story) and now they are going to bring him back.

Good article on it can be found here (http://www.standardbredcanada.ca/news/11-29-08/somebeachsomewhere-not-retired.html).
