Somebeachsomewhere remained undefeated on Saturday night as the 3-year-old pacer won his first start of the year in the $100,000 second division of the Burlington Stakes at Mohawk Raceway Saturday night.

Still one of the very dominant pacers early in the 3YO year, and one to definately keep an eye on. Congrats to the connections for a great return...

Love the fact that he's named after a Blake Shelton song. That is wicked cool.

this is a huge story up in Canada, he has become a major star on the front page of the toronto papers. if you ever get a chance to see this colt dont miss it, I went to Spring Haven farms in Ohio were he was bred to look at yearlings, and to say he stood out from the rest of the crop would be a drastic understatement. WOW! what a fantastic looking individual. A great colt for good people, unlike some other owners in the press today.

Best race of the day including the Tbreds ...

This one is seriously good, and betters himself while thrashing the others ..

Last year he set a world record for twos, this year he bested his own record of 1:49 for the mile, and finished up in 26 and change after wiring the field ...

He is 10 for 10 and it looks like the only competition is himself ... WOW ...

Everyone should do themselves a fav and watch probably the greatest standardbred pacer ever, he can only beat himself.

Totally agree. He's a specimen. The fact that PMac had him wrapped up in 1:48.3 on Saturday nite at the Big M was incredible to watch especially when contrasted with the fact that Mister Big, one of the best older pacers in the country, was all out to win the Haughton by a head in 1:49.

The scarry part is we haven't even seen the bottom to him, in talking to pmac he is not sure how fast he can go.

From what I've seen -- very serious horse. Incredible. He goes 27 quarters and does it under wraps, easy. I would like to very much see him win it.

One thing about the Meadowlands Pace though -- the Meadowlands has often been the boulevard of broken dreams, LOL. Many big stakes races, a horse, 2, maybe 3 take a run at you, can sit and go and potentially beat you. Maybe 2 or 3 are considered legit contenders. The Meadowlands Pace is a bit different -- there are usually 4, 5, sometimes more horses who can and will run at you. There are that many or more who can legitimately win.

Anyway -- I want to see him win it. The sport needs another truly great horse to come along . . . haven't had one since Artsplace.

He put the best horse in the worst position. That was ridiculous.

unbelievable effort by both horses. Art official on the lead through fractions unheard of, and the Beach like you said having to go 3 wide past the 1/2 to clear to 3/4 in 1:19 1/5. Are you kidding me. And he gets beat in a world record of 1:47.

new world record, and SBSW lost??

where did that effort come from on the winner.

most incredible speed i've ever seen.

But it was a great race in world record time for 3 year olds!

I am still just amazed at how great that race was, yet SBSW lost. They have nearly two months until the Jug, and I really hope they take him there...

What I love about it is that tonight you have Always a Virgin, one of the favorites for the Jug last year, you have Southwind Lynx, the Meadowlands Pace winner from last year, and Somebeachsomewhere all running. The stars of the game, although nowhere the stars of thoroughbred racing, still run after the 1st loss instead of immediately shipping them off to the shed.

Reminds me what this year would be like if only maybe Street Sense was sent to stud, and horses like Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday, etc. were left to race.

Well, our boy got back to winning last night in a $50,000(C) 3YO Open Pace at Mohawk going his standard 1:49 mile. Sucks that we won't see him in Delaware for the Jug, though, down the road...

His race last night at Mohawk is on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G4AbLiZN_k). Looked like Keystone Horatio was giving him a run for his money, and then as usual SBSW found his other gear with about 1/8 to go and ran away with it.

damn....1:49 flat on a 7/8 mile track is flat moving. Got a nice breather in that 2nd 1/4 going :28 4/5.

Very impressive.
