I know that the Hennegen's met with a "major player" in the racing industry yesterday, but I haven't heard what came from the meeting. I will be speaking to them directly next Tuesday and will ask whatever questions you want.
You can also check out their website about the film at www.thefirstsaturdayinmay.com (http://www.thefirstsaturdayinmay.com)

That's what I have been hoping for - see if there's anything you can say about that to us ;)

So, I spoke with Brad Hennegan today, and got some updates. He was actually speaking to one of my classes today, and we all got to see the film again, but I did get to speak to him after class for a few minutes for some updates.
Basically the film is going to be released late in April, just before the Derby. One of the venues will be the Landmark Theatre chain (http://www.landmarktheatres.com/), owned by Mark Cuban, that features independent films. According to Hennegan, they will have the number of total theatres later on this week, including the final decision on which cities will have the film.
They will also be pre-selling DVD's soon, which will be released shortly after the film hits the theatres.
If you check their blog (http://www.henneganbrothers.com/henneganbrothersblog/) they are showing the film in other places across the country before the big release, and I can guarantee that if you race fan you will love the film. Thing is, you really don't have to know anything at all about racing to like it, because they really focus on the differences in the trainers and thier families, which is the best part of the film. I have been fortunate enough to see it twice now, and loved it both times.
I also did keep an eye open for Mr. Byk, and he definately has a few seconds of background footage in the film. Pretty cool.
On a side note, one of the first questions ask was how they picked which horses to follow, since they had been following the horses that won the Derby and the two that dead-heated for 4th, along with a couple of others like Lawyer Ron and Sharp Humor, which were back, and he said they followed about 6-7 more, including Flashy Bull and Stevie Wonderboy, but had to make some cuts and they were the ones that were cut.
If there are other questions you can contact the guys through their website or through here. They are great to work with and really are fans of the sport we all love.

Landmark owns the Sunshine theater in Manhattan which is in the East Village and one of the best theaters in town.
